WHO ARE WE?
The Center for Marriage (TCFM) is designed to be a community in support of marriages and to provide necessary help to build A GREAT MARRIAGE. Led by Bill MacReynolds, Ph.D., TCFM provides its own program to guide individuals and couples to great relationships. The work draws from a wide range of professional work on relationships, the great strides being made by the marriage education movement and personal experiences. We do not do therapy or coaching. We assist individuals and couples all along the way from assessing where they are, helping them determine what they need to do to build A GREAT MARRIAGE, and providing the guidance, resources and support to help them get there. He began working with couples in his main area of expertise (money) in 2003. He soon found that money issues touched on almost all of a couples' relationship issues. In order to resolve important money issues, he found, it was alos extremely useful to work on the entire relationship. His great desire to nurture marriages led him to find a way to support the relationship so that issues like money, children, sex, religion, et. al., could be satisfactorily worked on within a healthy relationship. Bill calls himself a "Professional Nudge."
HOW IT WORKS
The idea is to provide continuous support for as long as it takes to create A GREAT MARRIAGE. We believe TCFM will work best for couples and individuals with a membership of a year or longer. We have seen couples go in and out of weekend workshops and couples therapy only to lose touch with the beneficial aspects of that work. TCFM is a place to keep in constant touch with what works for yourself and others so that beneficial changes can be recalled and worked with over and over to become a permanent part of your relationship. The idea is to take your time because you are working on a very important relationship and should do so carefully. A typical place to start is with an assessment. This will determine placement in one of three courses or whether consultation should come first. There are consulting sessions for individuals and couples who are not ready to start with courses, but instead need support just to be ready to fully participate in the first TCFM course. The courses have homework with every class that is closely evaluated. Every class has its own blog space for the classmates and instructor to interact 24/7 for the duration of the course. Individual and couple consulting is available before or after the coursework has been taken because to Have A Great Marriage the process is continual. Couples and individuals who have completed all the work will be encouraged to participate in future classes or in the TCFM on-line discussion groups to share their journeys. Couples or individuals can subscribe to the entire package by joining TCFM for one year or more. There is a special Lifetime membership available if you ask. This covers all courses and consulting for the life of your relationship. Bill calls himself a Professional Nudge because all of the classes and consultations include suggestions of small ways to move toward A GREAT MARRIAGE.
WE ARE ALL SCULPTORS
Each of us bring unfinished work to our relationships. Think of yourself as a sculptor. You are given a large rock and inside it, is you -- that marvelous, peaceful, joyful, feeling, fun-loving you. The one who thrives on connection and is totally alive, Relationships give us the opportunity to awaken to who we truly are. When we observe all of our surfaces and choose to retain what truly belongs to us and chip away what does not, we are becoming part of life and a full participant in A GREAT MARRIAGE. At some point in our lives we get very busy working, raising children and must work at balancing all the various parts of our lives. We tend to neglect our relationships and our own self. We seldom take the time just to observe what is there. We are asleep. Yet self observation is where we must start to shape our lives in relationship with others. The work at TCFM is based upon the notion that we are, at our core, totally lovable and loving human beings and that our relationships will take on more of these qualities permanently when we act as scuptors of our lives. Put another way, there is nothing new out there to discover to make you a better person. That person is within you right now. The logo at the top left of each page represents sculpted rings entwined in relationship with a simple rose representing the beauty that both people bring to the union.
